How to keep tracking expenses every day

Most people do not quit tracking because they stop caring. They miss two or three days, catching up feels like a chore, and they stop. SimpleSpend tackles that with two things: a nudge when you have forgotten, and a grid that shows which days you logged.
Reminders only when you forgot
The evening reminder rings at 20:00 by default. If you already logged something that day, it stays quiet, so good days are never interrupted.
There are two more: a midday reminder (13:00 by default) for catching up on breakfast and the commute, and a weekly review to look back once a week. Every time can be changed, and you can turn off any you do not want.
Reminders ring only on the iPhone or iPad where you set them; they do not sync through iCloud and ring on every device. If you ignore several in a row, SimpleSpend pauses them until you turn them back on.
See the habit
The Statistics screen has a Logging Habit section, like a GitHub contribution graph: one square per day, lit on the days you logged. Gaps stand out, and you can see how many days you kept it up this month.
The same grid is available as a Home Screen widget, which you see every time you unlock, with less interruption than a notification. Sections on the Statistics screen can be hidden one by one if you do not want them.
Make logging cheap
A reminder gets you to remember. What decides whether you keep going is how long one entry takes. SimpleSpend’s form asks for amount, category, and account; a note is optional.
Put New Transaction on the Lock Screen or in Control Center, log with Siri and Shortcuts from iOS 18, or hold + and speak on iOS 26. Set fixed costs like rent and the phone plan as recurring rules so they post themselves.
