An RSS reader that does not need an account
WeaveRead 1.2.0
Many feed readers are front ends for a cloud service, so the first screen asks you to sign up. RSS does not need that: an app can fetch feeds directly. WeaveRead works that way.
What stays on your device
Your subscriptions, the articles WeaveRead fetches, and its image cache are stored on your iPhone or iPad. Settings shows how much space the cache uses and lets you clear it; subscriptions, read state, and favorites stay.
What goes over the network
WeaveRead connects to the sites you subscribe to, and to image hosts their articles use, just as a browser would. It sends conditional requests, so a feed that has not changed is not downloaded again.
Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports are on by default, through Firebase. They never include feed names, links, or article text. There are no ads.
If you use more than one device
WeaveRead Pro syncs subscriptions, read state, favorites, and settings through your own private iCloud. It still does not need a WeaveRead account, and article text is not uploaded.
Questions
Can I use WeaveRead with my Feedly or Inoreader account?
No. WeaveRead fetches feeds directly and does not sign in to feed services.
Can I turn off analytics?
There is no in-app switch in this version. The privacy policy lists exactly what is collected.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
Data on the device is removed. If you used iCloud sync, the sync copy stays in your iCloud account.
