WeaveRead Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 17, 2026
1. Who We Are
WeaveRead is an RSS reader for Apple platforms. This Privacy Policy explains how the app processes information when you use it.
Unless otherwise stated, references to “WeaveRead,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our” mean the WeaveRead app and its developer.

2. Scope Of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the current released functionality of WeaveRead.
3. Information The App Processes
WeaveRead is designed to work primarily with data stored locally on your device. Depending on how you use the app, WeaveRead may process the following categories of information:
- RSS feed URLs and related feed metadata, such as feed titles, site URLs, favicons, ETag values, and last-modified headers.
- Article data fetched from subscribed feeds, such as titles, summaries, content snippets, article URLs, publication dates, and image URLs.
- Local reading data, such as read status, favorites, and filters.
- App preferences you choose, such as theme, browser behavior, and sync interval.
- Content you choose to copy or paste through system clipboard actions initiated by you.
WeaveRead does not require you to create an account and does not provide in-app account registration or sign-in.
4. How The App Uses Information
The app uses information only to provide its core functionality, including:
- Adding, refreshing, and displaying RSS and Atom feeds.
- Fetching and presenting article content and related media.
- Saving your subscriptions, reading state, favorites, cached article content, and preferences on your device.
- Syncing subscriptions, reading progress, favorites, and app preferences through your Apple iCloud account when enabled.
- Opening article links in an in-app web view or external browser, based on your settings.
5. Local Storage And Retention
WeaveRead stores core app data locally on your device using Apple system frameworks and local settings storage. When iCloud sync is enabled, WeaveRead also stores a limited sync copy of subscriptions, reading progress, favorites, and app preferences in your private iCloud account.
This may include:
- Feed subscriptions and metadata.
- Read and favorite state identifiers, values, and update times.
- App preferences.
Data remains on your device until you remove it, clear cached app data, delete feeds, or uninstall the app, subject to normal operating system behavior.
Article URLs, article content, summaries, images, and cache files remain local cache data and are not uploaded by WeaveRead’s CloudKit sync layer.
You can turn iCloud sync off for the current device in Settings. Turning it off stops this device from uploading or fetching sync data, but it does not delete data already stored in iCloud.
6. Data Collection And Third Parties
To handle subscriptions and restore purchases, and to understand how the app is used and where it crashes, WeaveRead uses these services outside your device:
- RevenueCat — for in-app purchases and restore.
- Firebase Analytics — basic product-usage events (for example, which features you open). On by default. Used to improve the app, not to show you ads.
- Firebase Crashlytics — technical information when the app crashes, so we can fix bugs.
Your feeds, article content, and links stay on your device by default. We do not upload article text or links, and we do not use this data for ad tracking.
These services use an app-instance identifier, not a WeaveRead user account. WeaveRead does not implement advertising tracking (ATT). Analytics events do not include article titles, links, body text, feed names, or feed URLs.
If you contact support, the message you send may include a short diagnostic summary that you can remove before sending, and WeaveRead does not upload that summary itself.
7. Network Access And Third-Party Content
WeaveRead connects to the internet to provide core reader functionality. For example, the app may connect to:
- RSS or Atom feed sources that you subscribe to.
- Publisher websites and article pages.
- Image and media hosts referenced by feed or article content.
- Favicon or related site asset URLs referenced by subscribed sources.
When you open web content inside the app or in an external browser, third-party websites may receive standard technical information such as your IP address, browser or web view characteristics, and request details, as part of normal web delivery.
WeaveRead does not control the privacy practices of third-party websites or feed publishers.
8. AI Features
The current version of WeaveRead does not include AI summary features and does not send article text to AI providers.
9. What We Do Not Currently Do
Based on the current implementation of the app:
- We do not upload cached article content, summaries, or images through the app’s CloudKit sync layer.
- We do not upload article URLs through the app’s CloudKit article-state sync layer.
- We do not provide developer-hosted accounts for storing your subscriptions or reading history.
- We do not include third-party advertising SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites for advertising purposes.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not send article titles, links, body text, feed names, or feed URLs to RevenueCat, Firebase Analytics, or Crashlytics.
10. Sharing And Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Information may be disclosed only in the limited ways necessary to operate the app’s requested functionality, such as:
- To RSS publishers, website operators, or media hosts when the app requests feed, article, or image content.
- To RevenueCat to process in-app purchases and restore purchases.
- To Google Firebase for product-usage analytics and crash diagnostics, as described above.
- If required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
11. Clipboard, Web View, And User-Initiated Actions
Clipboard access in WeaveRead is user-initiated. For example, the app may paste a feed URL when you tap a paste action, or copy a summary or article link when you choose a copy action.
When you choose to view a page in the app’s web view or an external browser, the requested site is loaded directly from that publisher or website operator.
12. Children’s Privacy
WeaveRead is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated account system or similar service.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the app in a way that requires action, please contact us using the contact information above.
13. International Transfers
Because WeaveRead can connect to RSS publishers, websites, and media hosts that may be located in different countries, information requested by the app may be transmitted to and processed in jurisdictions outside your own.
If you visit third-party websites through the app, their handling of data is governed by their own policies and applicable laws.
14. Your Choices And Controls
You can control how WeaveRead processes information by:
- Choosing which feeds to subscribe to.
- Deleting feeds or cached app data.
- Choosing whether links open in the in-app web view or an external browser.
- Turning iCloud sync off for the current device in Settings. This stops this device from uploading or fetching sync data; it does not delete data already stored in iCloud.
- Uninstalling the app.
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are on by default. There is no in-app switch to turn them off. Uninstalling the app stops this device from sending that data.
15. Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or clarification improvements.
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this document and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
