How to find a site’s RSS feed and add it on iPhone

WeaveRead 1.2.0

Most blogs, news sites, podcasts, and many YouTube channels publish an RSS or Atom feed, but few show a button for it. Here is how to find the feed address and subscribe in WeaveRead.

Where feeds usually are

Try adding a common path to the site’s address: /feed, /rss, /rss.xml, /atom.xml, or /index.xml. WordPress sites almost always use /feed. Many blogs also link “RSS” or show the orange feed icon in the footer.

If none of those work, search the web for the site name plus “RSS feed”. Some sites only offer a feed per section or per author.

Check that it is a feed

Open the address in Safari. A feed shows plain XML text or offers to open in another app, not a normal web page. If you see the site’s home page, that address is not the feed.

Subscribe in WeaveRead

WeaveRead subscribes from the feed address itself; it does not look for a feed inside a home page. Copy the feed URL, tap + in WeaveRead, and paste it. The app fetches the feed’s title and site icon and adds its posts to your timeline.

Add a feed in WeaveRead

  1. Find the feed address, for example example.com/feed.
  2. Open it in Safari to confirm you see XML, then copy the URL.
  3. In WeaveRead, tap + and paste the URL into Feed URL.
  4. Tap the check mark. New posts appear in your timeline.

Questions

Can I paste a website’s home page instead of the feed?

Not in this version. Paste the feed URL itself, such as /feed or /rss.xml.

Can I import a list of feeds from another reader?

Not yet. There is no OPML import, so feeds are added one at a time.

Does this site have a feed?

Yes. castorstudio.xyz publishes a feed of WeaveRead guides at /apps/weaveread/feed.xml, which you can use to try it.
