Wagebook

An hours tracker for hourly and shift work

Wagebook 1.1.0

If you are paid by the hour, your own record of hours is the only way to know what the next payment should be. Wagebook is a work calendar for iPhone: log each shift, and it adds up hours and estimated pay for the month and for each pay period.

What to record for each shift

A shift in Wagebook is a job, a start time, an end time, and an optional unpaid break and note. That is enough to work out paid time. Shifts that run past midnight count on the right side of the clock, and daylight-saving changes are handled for you.

Rosters repeat, so you can copy an earlier shift and change only the date. Logging right after work, or once a day, keeps the record close to what actually happened.

Hours and estimated pay on one calendar

The home screen is a month calendar. Each worked day shows its hours, and the top of the month shows total hours and estimated pay. Tap a day to see the shifts behind it.

Estimated pay is your hours multiplied by your own rates. It is a gross figure: Wagebook does not take off tax or other deductions.

Rates that keep their history

A job can have more than one named rate, for example weekday and weekend. If your rate goes up, add the new one; shifts you already logged keep the rate they were saved with, so old pay periods do not change under you.

Start tracking hours in Wagebook

  1. Create a job with its rate, currency, and how often you are paid.
  2. Tap + after each shift and enter start, end, and any unpaid break.
  3. Check the calendar for this month’s hours and estimated pay.
  4. When pay arrives, record the amount in its pay period.

Questions

Does Wagebook have a clock-in button?

No. You enter start and end times yourself, or copy an earlier shift. Nothing tracks you in the background.

Can I log a night shift that ends the next day?

Yes. Set the end on the next day and the hours are counted across midnight.

Is the estimated pay my take-home pay?

No. It is an estimate of gross pay from your hours and rates, before tax and deductions.
