Share one ledger with your partner

Keep your personal ledger, then add a shared one for rent, groceries, and utilities. Two people can use it on the free plan. For a bigger household, Pro allows up to 6 people per ledger. Personal spending never mixes in.
Two books, not one merged life
A joint card for rent does not mean every coffee belongs in the same pile. SimpleSpend keeps personal ledgers and shared ledgers in the same list, in separate sections, so you always know which book a new charge will hit.
The personal All view stays personal. Adding up shared books is a separate, labelled destination. That avoids a surprise total that quietly includes a partner’s private spending.
What is free, and what Pro adds
On the free plan you can create 1 shared ledger for 2 people, you included. That covers a couple or two flatmates.
Pro lets you create more shared ledgers with up to 6 people each, for a family or a bigger flatshare. People you invite do not need Pro. They join for free, log income and expenses, and see that ledger’s budgets and statistics.
Pro is available monthly, yearly, or as a one-time purchase.
Invites, leaving, and deleting
Invites do not put amounts in the title. Leaving, being removed, and deleting the ledger are separate actions, each with its own confirmation. This version does not transfer ownership.
Whoever created a shared ledger can give it a month start day, but in this version it only applies on the device where it was set. Other members, and your other devices, still see calendar months.
What shared ledgers do not have yet
Recurring rules belong to personal ledgers in this version. Log rent in the shared ledger each month, or let the person who pays keep the rule in a personal ledger and settle up later.
Image attachments are not shared between members. Siri, Shortcuts, and widgets also use personal ledgers only. To log to the shared ledger, pick it in the app first; holding + to talk works there.
Share a SimpleSpend ledger with your partner
- In the ledger list, create a shared ledger and name it for the household, such as “Home” or “Flat 302”.
- Invite your partner. Once they accept, you both log in it. The free plan covers 2 people.
- Log rent, groceries, and utilities there. Keep personal spending on a personal ledger.
- If more people join, or you want another shared ledger for a trip, upgrade to Pro.
Common questions
Is sharing a ledger free?
Yes. On the free plan you can create 1 shared ledger for two people. Pro adds more ledgers with up to 6 people each. People you invite always join for free.
Will my personal expenses show to my partner?
No. Personal and shared ledgers stay separate. Only people you invite to the shared ledger can see it.
Does my partner need Pro too?
No. The number of ledgers and members depends only on whether the ledger owner has Pro. Members never pay.
Can a shared ledger add rent automatically every month?
Not in this version. Recurring rules are for personal ledgers only, so log rent in the shared ledger by hand each month.
